Intel Xeon X3210
Drops into a supported LGA 775 board as it is; check the board's CPU list. How to check.
Intel Xeon X3210: 4-core, 2.13 GHz, Kentsfield, LGA 775, 1066 MT/s FSB, 8 MB (2 x 4 MB) L2, 105 W TDP.
If you went looking for a Core 2 Quad Q6400, this is the nearest real chip. That Q6400 shows up in a press report and on Wikipedia but in no Intel document, and the X3210 is the launched part with the same clock, bus and cache. It is the slowest of the three Kentsfield Xeons here, an 8x multiplier on the 1066 MT/s bus, but it is still four cores with VT-x for a home server or a family PC that needs more threads. ARK rates it 105 W. Wikipedia gives a separate TDP per stepping, 105 W and 100 W, and the table keeps ARK's figure. Both B3 (SL9UQ, CPUID 6F7) and G0 (SLACU, CPUID 6FB) exist.

Steppings and microcode IDs
| Stepping | CPUID | sSpec |
|---|---|---|
| B3 | 6F7 | SL9UQ |
| G0 | 6FB | SLACU |
A BIOS needs a microcode update matching the CPUID (and, for Xeons, the LGA 771 platform ID). See LGA 771 Xeon microcode and how to read your stepping.
Mod notes
No mod needed. Look for the X3210 itself on the board's CPU support list, not just the Core 2 Quads, and note which stepping, B3 or G0, and which BIOS version the list names.
