Intel Xeon X3360

YorkfieldLGA 775Launched Q1 2008

Native LGA 775

Drops into a supported LGA 775 board as it is; check the board's CPU list. How to check.

Intel Xeon X3360: 4-core, 2.83 GHz, Yorkfield, LGA 775, 1333 MT/s FSB, 12 MB (2 x 6 MB) L2, 95 W TDP.

Xeon twin of the Core 2 Quad Q9550, the X3360 runs 2.83 GHz from a half-step 8.5 multiplier, 12 MB of L2 and a 95 W rating. Its low-power sibling, the L3360, has the same clock at a lower TDP, and the X3363 is the LGA 771 counterpart. Three steppings shipped: C0 as SLAN5 (10676), C1 as SLAWZ and E0 as SLB8X (1067A). For SLAWZ, Intel's 3300-series spec update prints 10676h, but C1 is 10677 in Intel's Q9000 spec update and the stepping table, so the table lists 10677. Tcase is 71.4 °C. It makes a strong all-round quad for a late LGA 775 board.

A BIOS needs a microcode update matching the CPUID (and, for Xeons, the LGA 771 platform ID). See LGA 771 Xeon microcode and how to read your stepping.

Mod notes

Check the board's CPU support list for the X3360 and the stepping on your lid, then the BIOS version that brings support. A flash is not risk free: save the old BIOS and keep power steady.
