Intel Xeon 5150
Runs in an LGA 775 board only with the adapter sticker, the socket tabs removed and BIOS support for its core. How the mod works.
Intel Xeon 5150: 2-core, 2.66 GHz, Woodcrest, LGA 771, 1333 MT/s FSB, 4 MB (shared) L2, 65 W TDP.
The 5150 is the fastest Woodcrest that stays at 65 W: 2.66 GHz from a 1333 MT/s bus and a multiplier of 8, two cores, 4 MB of shared L2. The 5160 above it buys more clock with a higher TDP. That makes the 5150 an easy fit for an older LGA 775 board with average power delivery and a plain tower cooler. Enhanced SpeedStep and VT-x are both there; SSE4.1 is not, this being a 65 nm part. Tcase is 65 °C. ARK's archived page has no launch date, so the Q2 2006 in the table is from Wikipedia. The sSpec, the code printed on the lid, reads SL9RU or SLABM for B2 and SLAGA for G0.

Steppings and microcode IDs
| Stepping | CPUID | sSpec |
|---|---|---|
| B2 | 6F6 | SL9RU, SLABM |
| G0 | 6FB | SLAGA |
A BIOS needs a microcode update matching the CPUID (and, for Xeons, the LGA 771 platform ID). See LGA 771 Xeon microcode and how to read your stepping.
Mod notes
Fit the adapter sticker, remove the two LGA 775 socket keys, and add microcode for 6F6 and 6FB with the LGA 771 platform ID; the board has to support Conroe Core 2 Duo on a 1333 MT/s bus already. Ground yourself and pull the power cord before the socket work, since one slip with the knife can bend pins you cannot easily straighten.
Check a specific board with the LGA 771 to 775 compatibility checker.
