Intel Xeon LV 5113

WoodcrestLGA 771Launched Q4 2006

Adapter mod

Runs in an LGA 775 board only with the adapter sticker, the socket tabs removed and BIOS support for its core. How the mod works.

Intel Xeon LV 5113: 2-core, 1.6 GHz, Woodcrest, LGA 771, 800 MT/s FSB, 4 MB (shared) L2, 40 W TDP.

An OEM-only low-voltage Woodcrest: 1.6 GHz from an 800 MT/s bus, where a 200 MHz bus clock times 8 gives the rated speed, with 4 MB of shared L2 at 40 W. ARK lists a VID of 1.15 V to 1.25 V and no Tcase, so the table leaves Tcase blank. The bigger gap is the stepping. Wikipedia tags SLABL as G0 and gives SLAG7 none, CPU-World shows both as unknown, and neither appears in Intel's 5100 spec update, so the table lists no confirmed stepping or CPUID. That matters because BIOS microcode is matched to the CPUID the chip reports. For a build, it is a low-heat dual core with VT-x and Enhanced SpeedStep.

Mod notes

The physical steps match any Woodcrest: adapter sticker on the CPU, two key tabs cut from the LGA 775 socket, and a board that already runs Conroe Core 2 Duo at an 800 MT/s bus. Because its CPUID is unconfirmed, add microcode for both Woodcrest signatures, 6F6 and 6FB, with the LGA 771 platform ID, and back up the board's current BIOS before any of it.

Check a specific board with the LGA 771 to 775 compatibility checker.
